Dress Like A Celebrity

Ever since the "Royal Wedding" Pippa Middleton has been getting a lot of attention for her sense of style. I gotta admit, she always looks great! Usually dressed in a very casual chic wardrobe, Pippa's look is very classic and pulled together but with a hint of young and fun in there too. Being the sister of a princess she can't just walk around looking like she doesn't care about herself.

What I adore about Pippa's every day style is that it is so easy to replicate. Here is Snapshot Fashion's affordable version of an outfit she recently wore to her London office.

Would you wear this outfit? Who do you think is more fashionable...Pippa or Kate?

Student Discounts

You don't have to tell me twice that being a college student and not having a lot of extra cash go hand in hand. I've been there...quite a few years ago...but I have been there! Regardless of how little money I had laying around to spend on clothing I never resorted to wearing my pajamas or even sweatpants in public. And really, nobody should resort to being that sloppy or lazy with their style.

The great thing about being a college student is that you can take advantage of a lot of great discounts out there...all just by showing your student ID. Here are three great discounts that you need to take advantage of:

~Banana Republic- students and teachers can get 15% off of full priced items

~Topshop- Student Advantage card holders save 10%

~Rugby Ralph Lauren- save 15% on all full priced merchandise online and in store

Hmmmm...I might still have my student ID somewhere...wonder if it would work? Haha!

Purple Rain

The temperatures are dropping, and the rain is falling. I just hate days like this. Can you believe they are actually calling for snow this weekend? I don't think it will amount to anything...but I guess I should get all the winter stuff out of (organized in) my closet. Maybe I'll work on that later on today. Until then, I'll cuddle up with my dog Rocko. Isn't he the cutest? For some reason he looks huge in the photo below. He's really not...the poor pooch just needs a haircut badly. Maybe this weekend?

sweater- H&M
denim skirt- H&M
knit tights- Urban Outfitters
scarf and boots- Candie's available at Kohl's

The weekend is almost here. I'm guessing a lot of you are heading out to some Halloween parties? Any good costume ideas? Halloween is one of my favorite holidays...even though I haven't dressed up in years. Nowhere to go really. I am looking forward to handing out treats (rice krispie treats that is) to the neighborhood kids on Monday night. We've never had trick-or-treaters before. Can't wait!

Snapshot Fashion Loves StyleSays

I was recently informed about a fairly new website called StyleSays. This website is a shopping wishlist site (hello, perfect for the upcoming holiday season?!?!) that also helps friends shop together.

The creator of StyleSays, Jess, is a design student in San Francisco who was inspiration to start this site when they moved to California and left many friends back home in the midwest. Being unable to shop together anymore lead to emailing links for stores back and forth to one another. There had to be something better than this...and thus StyleSays was born.

On StyleSays you can not only create wishlists but share them with friends, and receive sales alerts when prices drop on your favorite items. I have already spent quite some time on StyleSays...it's ADDICTING!!! For more information on StyleSays please click here to check out a quick video on the site. Trust me, you'll love it as much as I do!   :-)

My Boots Finally Arrived

I have been waiting for the boots I ordered to arrive for days now...and they finally showed up today. WOOHOO! I was in desperate need of new boots for some time now, so I ordered two very affordable pair.

First let me tell you about the black pair. These are the Gomax Primadonna boots that I purchased via Piperlime. They are so comfy...and the heel height is perfect. My only issue with them is how high they come up on my leg. I have only tried them on with a skirt...and they look a little awkward. If they were an inch or two taller or shorter they would be perfect. They come up high enough that they just cover my knee caps. Awkward, right??? But, I do think that they will look fantastic with a pair of jeans.

Now let me tell you about the more casual brown pair. These are the Candie's Tall Boots that I picked up at Kohl's. I LOVE THEM! I see myself wearing these a lot. I actually don't have any brown shoes...so I'm really excited about them.

Hooray for new boots!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Halloween Costume Ideas

No matter if you loved the old television show or the more recent movies, The Addams Family is classic and always a great idea for Halloween costumes. I love it when people dress as Wednesday Addams. It's creepy and fun...and SO SIMPLE. Don't forget to wear your hair in braids and maybe carry a doll around that is missing a head.

Flashback Friday

I thought it would be fun to play a Flashback Friday guessing game today. Check out this stunning photograph. She was a model when she was younger, but is better known for her many decades of acting. Those are the only hints I'm giving you!  :-P

See who this beauty is after the jump...

Halloween Costume Ideas

With Halloween only a few days away I know that a lot of you are thinking: WHAT AM I GOING TO BE?!?!? Personally, I like to be creative with costumes and make them up myself. Going to buy a slutty costume and your local costume shop is just not my style.

Here I put together a very simple look that you just might already have in your closet. We're talking about Meg Griffin from Family Guy! This look is super easy, and everyone will know who you are. Jeans, t-shirts, a hat, and glasses...and you're all set.

Look of the Day

Creating An Outfit

I know I say that I have nothing to wear all the time. And it is totally not true. I have a closet full of clothing...but get totally bored and often stick to the basics when my readers aren't looking. There is nothing more basic than jeans and a tee. But how can you make them more than just jeans and a tee?

Layering and adding interesting accessories are rules to live by.

To start out I added a simple black blazer and some animal print pumps.

To finish off the look I wanted to add some color. A red scarf and lipstick were key accessories.

jeans- BDG from Urban Outfitters
tee- Kohl's
shoes- Deena & Ozzy from Urban Outfitters
scarf- gift
blazer- MNG by Mango available at JCPenney

Fashion Icons

After I put up my last post about Roseanne and the less than fashionable wardrobe on the show, it got me thinking about the television shows that I actually looked to for fashion tips when I was younger. Please remember, I grew up in the 80's and 90's...so looking back now at what was considered hip causes me to laugh (and cringe).

Beverly Hills 90210- They were serious style icons of their time. Over sized blazers with shoulder pads, skin tight mini dresses, acid washed jeans, vests, and bold colors. I loved it all!

Blossom- Who didn't love this show? I always wanted Blossom's (or even Six's) wardrobe. What I would have done to trade my closet with them. Heck, I would have even been happy with their hat collection!

Clarissa Explains It All- Clarissa Darling definitely had the most eclectic, funky, crazy wardrobe on Nickelodeon.

Saved By The Bell- I always loved the way Jessie, Kelly, and Lisa dressed...terrible high waisted jeans and all. And didn't they have the BEST HAIR OF THEIR TIME?

My So-Called Life- Angela Chase and Rayanne Graff brought grunge to a whole new level. One could never have too much flannel...right?

Which shows/characters did you look to for fashion inspiration when you were growing up?

Third and Delaware

I came across this website quite some time ago...and I'm sure some of you have seen it already. This afternoon I started thinking about it again, and it made me laugh. Third and Delaware is all about the so-called "fashion" on the popular 1990's television show, Roseanne. It takes you through every episode, showcasing the most ridiculous outfits.

Yeah, I know that fashion wasn't the number one priority for the Conner's. But the funny thing is back when this show was on I wouldn't have looked twice at these outfits. They were totally normal for that time. Oh how far we have come...

Take some time and look through...and be sure to read what they have written (half of the time it's just as funny as the pictures). Sorry I didn't share this with you all sooner. If you haven't seen this before make sure you check it out.

Review for Anastasia of Beverly Hills- Beauty Express Brow Kit

Anastasia of Beverly Hills recently sent over a Beauty Express Brow Kit for me to try. I was really excited about trying this product. Ever since I was in college I have been getting compliments on my eyebrows. Yeah, that might be a strange thing to compliment...but I loved that others liked my brows, because I was rather obsessed with grooming them just so. Even my roomies many years ago would all have me do their brows. So yes...it's a slight obsession.

Anastasia has long been the definitive eye and brow expert for icons such as Madonna, Jennifer Lopez, Oprah as well as hip up-and-comers like Diana Agron, Selena Gomez and Kristen Cavalari and has recently expanded into colors that match their superior standards for skincare based cosmetics. Knowing that A-list celebrities use their products made me even more excited to try them out!

"Beauty Express" brow-kit instructional video from Anastasia Beverly Hills on Vimeo.

This brow kit comes in a beautiful case and is available in 2 shades, blonde or brunette. It contains: wax, brow powder duo, 5 stencils, eye shadow duo, and an angled brush for precise application.

What I absolutely loved about this kit is the quality of the product. The wax kept the shadow in place all day long and the brush made the application so simple. The only thing that I didn't use in my application was the stencils. I guess I'm really particular with my brows. I had them thin for a long time...and recently let them become a bit fuller. The stencils just didn't really work with the current shape that I have. So I opted out of using them. I do think that they would work wonders for someone that never really shaped their brows before. The stencils really are a great template and are idiot proof!

Be sure to check out the Beauty Express Brow Kit from Anastasia of Beverly Hills. It's available at most retailers for $39.50.
