Red Dresses For The Holidays

People that know me know that I can't stand country music. But, when it comes to fashion I often am looking to Taylor Swift for inspiration. I just love her wardrobe...especially her amazing cocktail dresses. Taylor was recently spotted wearing this adorable red strapless dress to a CMT bash. She kept her look very simple and didn't go overboard with accessories. She let the bold red in her dress (and lips) be the star of the party!

I love the idea of wearing a red frock for the holidays. It's actually something I do not have in my wardrobe. Can you believe that? I have so many little black dresses...I have to add in a little red dress to the mix. It's such a great look for Christmas or New Year's Eve parties, making you stand out in the crowd. Who doesn't love a little attention???

Here are some of my favorite red dresses...and if you are also in need of a great red dress (or would just love another one) I strongly suggest incorporating these looks into your party style---

T + J Designs Style Challenge

The other day I saw that one of my longtime favorite bloggers, I Am Style-ish, was having a statement jewelry style challenge where two lucky people would win jewelry prize packages from her jewelry line, T + J Designs. I really wanted to enter but wasn't really sure which piece of jewelry to wear. But yesterday my parents came back from their trip to St. Maarten and they brought me back a beautiful turquoise necklace. I knew I had to wear it for this challenge!

maxi dress- American Eagle Outfitters
shirt- Lark & Wolff
necklace- gift
shoes- Charlotte Ronson

Necklaces are usually my go to jewelry. They are a simple way to add a pop of color or some drama to any outfit. I adore necklaces because they are always noticed. I wear statement necklaces three different ways:
1) I like to match the color or metal with something else in the outfit. For instance, with this outfit I pulled the blue in my shirt out by pairing it with this pretty necklace. This pulls everything together.
2) Another way I like to wear statement pieces is with a neutral outfit. Wearing black head to toe and a bold necklace makes the necklace the star of the look.
3) Pairing jewelry with accessories is another way to go. Matching the color of your jewelry to your belt, handbag, shoes, or tights...this makes everything pop!

Early Cyber Monday Sales

If you are like me you HATE Black Friday and will do just about anything to avoid it. What in the world did we do before Cyber Monday was created? I know many of you have family traditions of heading out to the stores Thanksgiving night, waiting in long lines, dealing with people pushing (avoiding pepper spray if you can)...and you love it! It's just not my scene. I'd rather stay home and shop in my pajamas. Oh how I love the internet!  :-)

If you have been waiting for Cyber Monday to roll around for your online deals to begin, you are missing out on some fantastic sales that are going on now! This year there are a TON of online deals that have started early (some started Friday, and others throughout the weekend). Let the holiday shopping begin!

Fall Color Combos

Depending where you live the current weather conditions could be throwing your mind for a loop. Here in the Northeast the temperatures are like spring...which is crazy! I don't remember a Thanksgiving week being this warm. Today we reached into the mid-60's, and even though I love mild and comfortable weather like this...I do love fall fashion.

Winter is only a few weeks away...but I do enjoy making my fall wardrobe last a few months. The one way I do this is by using fall colors. I really LOVE the warm, earthy colors of autumn. So pretty! Today we're focusing on a great color combination: orange and brown. These two colors make me think of leaves, pumpkin, and fall spices.

What are your favorite color combos for autumn???

Covered Bridge

The county I recently moved to is known for their historical covered bridges, so I thought it would be a fun place to take some photos. The only thing that could have made these photos better was if some Amish were passing by. No dice though...just traffic going to the mall. I had to keep dodging cars so I wouldn't get hit in these pictures.

blazer- H&M

shoes- Deena and Ozzy
glasses- YSL
earrings- Tara Lane Designs

So I know what you are saying to yourself. Glasses??? You wear glasses? Well, yeah. When I remember to that is. They are only for reading (as well as watching television and computer work)...but I usually forget to wear them. I do think they are cute though, and I don't think they have ever made their Snapshot Fashion debut. So here I am looking a little nerdy.

I wanted to say a huge thank-you to Oh to Be a Muse for hosting a great giveaway the other week. I was lucky enough to win these adorable earrings by Tara Lane Designs. Aren't they so fun and cheery? I love them!

Lazy Saturday

I was running around most of the morning and early afternoon that I totally forgot to take my outfit photos outside. Well, I lie. I remembered...I just was really lazy. I think I'm super lazy today due to the fact that I skipped my workout this morning...and I only had 2 cups of coffee. So indoor photos for today...oh well! Tomorrow is always another day to shoot outside. But man it is chilly out there today. I guess winter is almost here. Let's hope the sun warms things up (and the wind dies down) tomorrow!

blazer- H&M
silk blouse- Brooklyn Industries
jeans- Lucky Brand
boots- Gomax
necklace- Urban Outfitters

I've been wearing a lot of cardigans and knits this week...looking super casual. Still in the mood for jeans today, I added some boots, a silk top, and a fun blazer to make my look a bit more dressy. My husband and I were going on a little lunch date, so I didn't think a boring jeans/sweater/flats look would cut it...

I love how flowy this top is. The pleats in it and the empire waist are so romantic looking to me. Don't you think???

Well, I'm sure Rachel Zoe isn't going to be too pleased with this news. Her ex-assistant stylist, Brad Goreski, that we all grew to love on her show The Rachel Zoe Project is getting a show of his own on Bravo called It's a Brad, Brad World. I have to admit...I'm beyond excited for his new reality series! Will you be watching???

Vote For Style

Green and glittery Elie Saab gowns are making their way to the red carpet events lately. Gwyneth Paltrow accepted her Bambi Award in a sequin Elie Saab gown, and Zoe Saldana showed up at the Latin Grammy Awards red carpet in a belted Elie Saab. Simply gorgeous! Which look do you love more?

Personally, I love them both...but I think that Zoe's look is more my style. Two very stylish ladies, two beautiful look. Which look would you want to wear (if you had the chance)?

Trend Block: Peter Pan Collars

The thing about trends is that usually depending on your age and body type they just don't work on everyone. I found a fantastic trend that EVERYONE needs in their closet now: the Peter Pan collar. What I love about it is that you can wear it so many ways! From dresses, to blouses, to necklaces...this trend is a look that is always adorable, works no matter the season or occasion, and really looks great on everyone that wears it. Here are some of my favorite Peter Pan collars that are out there now---

This collar is great because you can attach it to any outfit. It's a very simple and affordable way to transform your existing wardrobe.

Bring trendiness to your office with this adorable top.

I love this collar in lace! It's so feminine and pretty with a vintage feel to it.

Throw a blazer on over this, pair it with jeans and some heels and you have a chic look perfect for a date or cocktails with friends.

This has to be one of the easiest ways to wear this trend. A great coat will always keep this trend in style.

Do you love Peter Pan collars? Which one is your favorite? How many do you have in your wardrobe?

Lookin' Fab

This photo of America Ferrera was taken a few weeks ago outside London's West End production of Chicago. I had to do a double take...she looks absolutely STUNNING! Wearing a red Nicole Miller shift dress and velvet platforms she's a far cry from Ugly Betty. More like, America the Beautiful.
