Happy Halloween (A Flashback)

Happy Halloween everyone!!! I know a number of you probably celebrated last weekend...and some of you can't celebrate today due to the storm. I am sadly not dressing up this year. I don't think I have dressed up for about 6 years or so now. TOO LONG! Halloween is definitely one of my favorite holidays. Who doesn't love playing dress up? But at my age, if nobody is having a party...what's the point of putting on a costume? Maybe next year...

Until then, I thought a look back to some of my costumes over the year would be fun!

One of my first costumes. I'm a devil...talk to the hand.

I think I'm suppose to be a pilgrim? Or a Dutch girl? And that is my brother as a really pathetic looking clown. HAHAHA!

My brother now in the devil costume (nose pick?) and myself as a princess.

This was the year my mom had the brilliant idea of dressing me as a boy (hockey player), and my brother as a girl (in that hand me down pilgrim/Dutch girl outfit). Here we are with my neighbor who was obsessed with He-Man. I'll never forget this Halloween because almost every person that gave us candy thought my brother really was a girl.

I'm a crayon, and my brother Pete is a pumpkin. I love that we both have our leg warmers on.  :-)

The last time I dressed up for Halloween (and probably my favorite costume EVER). This is a terrible photo of it. I wish it was in color so you could see our red podiums and silver microphones...and I wish my husband wasn't making such a ridiculous face! We are Price Is Right contestants! See, I can be crafty sometimes

Are you dressing up this year? What are you going to be? What is your favorite costume that you have ever wore?

Hurricane Sandy

I wanted to take a moment to talk with my readers about Hurricane Sandy (aka Frankenstorm, aka The Super Storm). This deadly hurricane has hit so many areas...even here where I live in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. I have to say, we were very lucky. A lot of rain and very strong winds, but overall the damage was quite minimal.

I sit here watching CNN and MSNBC nonstop, and the stories and images of the damage is heartbreaking. I lived in Hoboken, NJ for two years, and I wouldn't doubt that both of my apartments there are more than likely under water. I also lived in the East Village in New York City for four and a half years...and the images I have been seeing are just beyond anything I could imagine. A block or two from my old apartment in NYC cars were under water! UNDER WATER! I just can't believe that.

I do have a lot of friends and family that live in New Jersey, Manhattan, Long Island, and Connecticut and I hope they all are well. I have heard from a number of my loved ones but not everyone. There are a ton of power outages that are going on all over the place though. Everyone is in my thoughts and I really hope they are all okay.

Did Sandy strike where you live? Please share your stories.

Beauty Buzz- Olio Olive Oils & Balsamics

As far as beauty products are concerned the last place you would think of looking would be an olive oil and balsamic store. I would have thought the same thing...but back in May my brother, sister-in-law, and parents opened Olio Olive Oils & Balsamics in Lititz, Pennsylvania and guess what they had? In addition to their amazing olive oils and balsamics they also had olive oil beauty products! As good as olive oil is for your health, it also has excellent benefits for your skin. Soaps, body lotions, shower gels, anti-wrinkle cream, shampoo, conditioner...you name it, they have it!

Olive oil has several key vitamins (such as A, D, E, and K) which act as antioxidants. They keep skin healthy, and more importantly delay the aging of cells. Olive oil also contains squalene, which is a beneficial antioxidant and emollient. With high levels of collagen, these products are natural age defiers.

Their products are made with 100% Italian Virgin Olive Oil. They are free of SLS/SLES, parabens, and colorants. No animal ingredients or animal fats are used. They are all gentle, hypoallergenic, pure, and natural. I have tried a number of their products, and what I absolutely love about them is just how moisturizing they are! My skin gets so dry in summer AND in the winter...so keeping it moisturized is key. Initially when my family told me about these products I wasn't really sure as to what I could expect. When I think olive oil I think greasy. But that is not the case with these beauty products!

If you are in the Lititz, Pennsylvania area I definitely invite you to stop in to Olio. You will love this store. They let you try their products before you buy them. Sipping olive oils and balsamics (similar to a wine tasting) makes for a fun afternoon. The quality of their products are unlike anything you have ever tried before. Tell them Diane from Snapshot Fashion sent you!  :-)

But, since I know the vast majority of my readers are not from around here I don't want them to feel left out. They do have an online store. You can order their beauty products, olive oils, balsamics, pantry items, sea salts, peppercorns, and gifts on their website.

My brother- Pete

When you stop by you can taste test all of their products!

Adorable gifts...perfect for the upcoming holidays!

They even have sample sizes in all of their flavors.

Many Thanks!!!

I just wanted to say THANKS SO VERY MUCH from the bottom of my heart to everyone that donated, the fashion bloggers (Jen, Lar, Cath, and Maegan) that took part in this, the readers that reposted this fundraiser, all the kind comments that were left, and to everyone that took the time to write me wonderful emails. Everyone's support really means the world to me! I'm happy to announce that we were able to raise: $191.48. This money will be sent directly to the Endometiosis Foundation of America where it will go towards education, awareness, and research for endometriosis.

I hope to do another fundraiser for endo awareness in the future where we can raise even more money!!!

Fashionista Fundraiser for Endometriosis Awareness

So I was all set to do an outfit post but then my dog Rocko started pesting me so I would let him in on the photos for this last Fashionista Fundraiser for Endometriosis Awareness post. So, I decided to save my outfit for another day, and post some cute pictures of Rocko in his scarf posing with my endo sign. He's cuter than I am anyway!!!

Again, we are doing this fundraiser because there is no known cure for endometriosis. There are plenty of ways to control it or prolong surgery. But I want a cure. I need a cure! I think it is so fantastic that other illnesses have such strong support systems, awareness education, and huge fundraisers. Endometriosis really does not. Go ahead, ask ten women that you know what endometriosis is. I guarantee you not all ten can explain. The scary thing is, one in ten women will get this condition. Education about endo is so important. How can you know the symptoms if you don't even know what endometriosis is?!?!

A huge thank-you goes out to all of my friends, family, and readers...as well as fellow bloggers that have been a part of this, and those of you that have reposted this fundraiser. Your support means more than anything. When your health has you feeling isolated and alone, it really means a lot to have all the kind emails, comments, and donations being made.

Please make a donation today! All donations will go directly to the Endometriosis Foundation of America. I ask that you make your donation via our secure PayPal link. Please take note that we are raising money through this Friday, October 5th. So get your donations in today!!!
