Must Have: Statement Necklace

I definitely believe that accessories truly make an outfit. Personally, the one accessory that I cannot live without is the statement necklace. It really adds something special to any outfit. No matter if you are dressed up in a cocktail dress for a party, or dressed way down in a pair of jeans...it gives you instant style!

It's even a huge trend in Hollywood. Here are some of my favorite looks worn by Hilary Swank, Emma Stone, and Nikki Reed. Now I ask that you look at their outfits and try to imagine them without the necklaces...it's just not quite the same. Right? The statement pieces really elevate their outfit to the next level.

What I love most about this look is that it is something that anyone can obtain. Statement necklaces really can range from the very affordable to the extremely expensive. Here are some of my absolute favorite picks that you must check out-

Statement of the Art Necklace available at ModCloth- $49.99

Sparkling Faux Stone Necklace available at Forever 21- $19.80

Bejeweled Necklace available at t + j Designs- $48

Kinsley available at DANNIJO- $695 $417

Miami Block Necklace available at Francesca's Collection- $26

Stone Statement Necklace available at BCBG- $148

Lookin' Fab

Emmy Rossum stunned on a recent Conan appearance in this Stop Staring by Alicia Estrada polka dot dress. She really made this navy dress pop with red nails, lips, and heels. Simply stunning! There is something very retro about this look that I just adore.

What do you think of this look on Emmy? I may be biased because I'm obsessed with polka dots (I'm even wearing this dress again today). How do you feel about polka dots? Do you love them, or are you so over them???

Help Me Pick A Maid Of Honor Dress

I'm super excited for May to roll around. My dear friend Holly, who I have been friends with since high school, is getting married! She even asked me to be her Maid of Honor...which was the sweetest thing ever. She's been the most easy going bride ever, but then again I didn't expect a bridezilla out of her. Since the wedding party is very small (just me, the best man, and her fiance's daughter as the best daughter) I get to pick my own dress. All she cares about is that my dress is emerald. Can you believe she picked that color before it was named color of the year?

Such a very old photo of us (I think about 6 years old or so)...but I love it!

The wedding is semi-formal and is going to be held in upstate New York's wine country near the finger lakes. I have been running dress ideas by her for the last few months. I know my dear blogging friends The AsianCajuns asked their readers to help pick Cath's dress for Lar's wedding a year ago...and it was really helpful to them. So hopefully my readers will help me out too!!! These are some that Holly and I narrowed it down to and I want need your opinion! I'm so indecisive, and I know if I don't pick something soon she might start freaking out a little. Haha!

Dress #1- Windy City Dress from ModCloth

Dress #2- Aubree One Shoulder Dress from Ann Taylor

Please let me know which dress you think I should get. Right now I am leaning towards dress #1...but I'm still not sure. HELP ME OUT!!!

*UPDATE: Thanks so much for all of your opinions! After seeing that the majority of you agreed that #1 was the way to go I showed Holly the feedback and she told me to get it. So I just ordered it! Let's hope it fits!!! Thanks again...your help was much appreciated!*

The Big Freeze

I know the thermometers show that it is warmer in NYC today...but it sure feels colder to me! I just got in from walking Rocko and I literally can't feel my feet. I was only outside for about three minutes. You'd think I was from the south or out west the way I complain about the cold. But no, I have lived in the northeast all my life.

The only thing I like about the winter season is fabulous outerwear. I am obsessed with coats! Aren't you? Here are the coats I'm currently obsessing over. And what makes them all even better is they are all on sale!

Anna Tweed Swing Coat with Removable Faux Fur Collar available at Brooklyn Industries- $188 $129.99

Dusken Funnelneck Coat available at Anthropologie- $298 $149.95

Merona Wool Coat with Shawl Collar and Belt available at Target- $59.99 $41.98

Cream Minimalist Coat available at Zara- $129 $89.99

Wonderland Wool Collarless Coat available at French Connection- $368 $149.99

How has the weather been by you? I have talked to some people that live out in the Midwest, up in Canada, and in New England and I really have nothing to complain about. I hope everyone just stays warm!!!

Paris Fashion Week To Include H&M

This just in: H&M plans on taking part in Paris Fashion Week next month. It has been eight years since H&M presented during Paris Fashion Week. They will be showcasing 25 looks for women at the Musée Rodin on February 27th.

I have been to the Musée Rodin when I was in Paris a number of years ago and it was breathtaking. I can only imagine how fabulous going to fashion week there must be. Some day I'll get there for it...some day...

What do you think of H&M joining on Fashion Week? Do you think fashion weeks should stick to high end designers, or is it refreshing to see more affordable retails taking part in it?

Must Love Fashion Websites

I have to admit, I do the majority of my shopping online. I can hear you now, "but Diane you live in NYC...why would you do this?" There are a few reasons for my madness:

1) I hate dealing with crowds and lines.
2) I feel like I'm such a common size that often I have a hard time finding my size in stores. Seems like when I go to an actual store there is always an abundance of size 0 or size 14...and nothing close to what I wear.
3) What I hate most about shopping in a busy area like NYC is that sometimes the stores are a mess. Not always, but depending where you go...it's just a disaster.
4) I don't have to carry things home with me if I just order online.
5) Sometimes I just hate trying things on...

Online shopping is so much easier! Don't you agree?

Here are the online shopping sites that I'm currently obsessing over. Now I'm not saying they are new...but they are new to me, so maybe they will be new to some of you as well.

Nasty Gal- This site is part up and coming designers and part vintage.

Castor & Pollux- Casual, yet refined...and some of the best accessories you will find.

Proper Topper- They have a little bit of everything, but a large selection of hats. So if you need a hat you gotta check them out!

Les Nouvelles- Versatile, functional, and fashionable...and the website has a fantastic layout.

OTTE- Luxury style meets contemporary designs...they have a number of stores in NYC (their newest one is right near my apartment), but their website lets you have the opportunity to purchase their items without being in the Big Apple.

HAPPY SHOPPING!!!

Puppy Love

Everyone that knows me knows that I love my dog Rocko more than anything in the world. He's a five year old lhasa-poo and my husband and I treat him like our little baby. Such a happy little dog, and loves making his appearances here on my blog.

dress- Cooperative Metro Dress available at Urban Outfitters
tights- Urban Outfitters
boots- Gomax Boots

This is another dress that my husband picked up for me the other day. I love it so much! So simple and easy to wear, but some pleated details, keyhole in the back, and fun print adds a little something extra to make this dress that much more fabulous. Isn't the dog print so fun? Reminds me of my little Rocko.  :-)

Rocko and I spent the majority of the day inside today. The weather here in NYC has been so gross...like it looks like it is going to rain, but nothing happens. So today consisted of a lot of puppy cuddles on the sofa. Not that I'm complaining!

How was your Monday? Any fun plans for the rest of the week?

Seeing Spots...

It's been practically a week since I had been struck down with the flu. Right now I'm feeling pretty good so I thought an outfit post was needed. Now that I realize it, this is going to be my first outfit post in 2013...and actually my first one since we moved back to NYC. Gosh I'm so behind!

The other day my husband surprised me with some adorable dresses from Urban Outfitters. This polka dot dress total won over my heart! There is something very retro about it that I just adore. Kind of 1940's-ish? Don't you think?

belt- H&M
tights- H&M
boots- Candie's
necklace- H&M

In other news...I'm thinking of getting a new hairstyle. I'm SO SICK OF MY HAIR!!! Anyone have any ideas? I need a change...pronto! What are your thoughts???

Okay I don't know what is going on in this last photo...but it cracks me up. Maybe my fever is back? Haha.
