Mimosa Saturday at Brooklyn Industries

Three of my favorite things are coming together on Saturday afternoon: shopping, mimosas, and Brooklyn Industries! I swear a third of the items I own are probably from Brooklyn Industries. I especially love their dresses, graphic tees, and accessories.

When I saw the sign for their upcoming mimosa Saturday in their Williamsburg store window yesterday on my way to work it made me sooooooo very happy! Now I know what me and my husband will be doing that day (he is as obsessed with BI too!).

I can't wait to see their spring collection. Will you be there???

Ice Cream Monsters

I've been meaning to take photos here since we moved to Brooklyn. This amazing mural is across the street from our apartment building...and I can't get enough of it! Monsters, ice cream, and the color pink...love love love it. One thing about Brooklyn that I do love is all of the street art. Hopefully when the weather gets a bit nicer I'll be posting more and more of it here.

Today, with the wind chill the temperature was about 5 degrees when we took these photos. Brrrrrr!!! We rain outside, snapped away, and ran back in. Basically, I just wanted to show you all one of my new coats! I needed a new one desperately. The purple coat which I have featured on here a number of times (see here, and here) has broken. The stupid zipper broke two times on me this week...and now I can't even open it. I've had it for about 5 or 6 years now...and have worn it to death. So yesterday I went coat shopping. Not an easy task since many of the stores have their spring clothing out already. But Zara had some amazing deals on their winter outerwear. I grabbed two coats there, both on sale! This houndstooth beauty was only $49.99 (which was half off of the original price).

tights- H&M
scarf- gift from my parents
hat- Urban Outfitters

You might be noticing that my bangs are looking a little different. I decided to switch things up a bit and let my blunt bangs grow out. So last weekend I went to the cutest hair salon down the street from me called Head Chop and had my blunt bangs turned in to side swept bangs...for a smoother transition.

My favorite and most useful gift this Christmas has to be these Hunter boots (in the shade of lipstick). First off, they are adorable. Secondly, with this insane weather we have been having lately I'm wearing them all the time.

Rocko even has booties he needs to wear. With the amount of salt that gets dumped on the streets and sidewalks he cries out in pain if he doesn't have them on. Or maybe he is just being a puppy fashionista!

Today we're suppose to be getting another inch of snow (ugh!) and more brutal cold next week. I seriously can't take this weather much longer. BRING ON SPRING!!! My trip to San Francisco at the end of March can't get here soon enough.

What are your plans this weekend???

I'm always wearing black. Maybe because it's practical, maybe because I'm a New Yorker. I swear half of my wardrobe is black. What I love about it so much is that you can mix and match it with so many other colors and prints and still look great. Often when wearing a black outfit I like to add a bright pop of color...like the red bag shown above. It just brings it to the next level. Don't you agree???

Warby Parker: Palm Canyon Collection

I have such exciting news! Warby Parker has just announced their limited-edition Palm Canyon Collection. This new collection of frames come in four styles Winston, Duckworth, Preston, and Wheeler.

The quality and chic styles are what we have grown to know and love about Warby Parker's eyeglasses and sunglasses...and what makes the Palm Canyon Collection extra special is that not one single pair is alike. This is because they have spent a year perfecting their design and construction. Each frame features a hand-mixed acetate inset at the end piece. So when you wear these great looks you'll be extra stylish, yet totally unique.

Also, don't forget that for every pair of glasses that are purchased, Warby Parker distributes a pair to someone in need.

Be sure to stop by and check out the collection. Which style from the Palm Canyon Collection is your favorite?

What They Should Be Wearing- 2014 Golden Globes

Award season is officially here! I think the Golden Globes are usually my favorite...mixing my favorite TV celebrities with my favorite movie stars. I'm sure I'll watch some of the actual awards show, but what I'm looking forward to most is the red carpet. It's all about the fashion...am I right???

Right now I'm sitting here thinking about what the hottest celebrities in Hollywood are going to be wearing tomorrow evening. This is what I'm hoping they fashion.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus in Spring 2014 Monique Lhuillier

Zooey Deschanel in Pre-Fall 2014 Oscar de la Renta

Mila Kunis in Pre-Fall 2014 Monique Lhuillier

Zoe Saldana in Pre-Fall 2014 Badgley Mischka

Amy Adams in Spring 2014 Jenny Packham

Jennifer Lawrence in Pre-Fall 2014 Badgley Mischka

Do you agree with any of my picks? What do you hope your favorite stars wear?

Rainy Day Saturday

Today I was planning on a fun photoshoot out in the neighborhood since the Polar Vortex was gone and warmer weather was on the way (hitting 60 today!)...but that warm weather came with a ton of rain. So, I'm just hanging around my apartment. That's okay though. Getting some chores done, getting some blog work done, and hanging out/being lazy. A day like this is just fine with me. So...an indoor shoot was in order. The first one in my new place!

tights- Joe Fresh
boots- Nature Breeze via ModCloth
necklace- H&M

This weekend is going to be a busy one. Possibly hitting up a bar tonight, a date with my hubby for brunch in the neighborhood, watching the Golden Globes red carpet (and maybe a little bit of the awards), eating homemade pulled pork Asian style tomorrow night, and the new season of Girls starts tomorrow night! WOOHOO! Happy weekend to me!

What are your weekend plans???

2014- Best in Beauty

Over the past year or so I have been trying to get in to a more regular beauty routine. I always try to be really good with my skin care, hair care, and makeup...but to be quite honest, I get lazy. I buy products, use them for a little bit, and then they just sit on my shelves for months. Terrible...I know.

That is all changing this year. The following products are items that I seriously do not know what I'd do without. Some are items I actually have been using for years, and others are new to my beauty regimen (thanks to amazing Christmas gifts).

(NEW FAVORITE) I am obsessed with Burt's Bees Almond Milk Beeswax Hand Creme! Over the last few years my hands are so insanely dry over the winter. I have tried absolutely everything on them. But the cracks and dryness doesn't stop! I finally have gotten relief with this! Also, the smell is amazing!!! It is my all time favorite smell in the world. Seriously.

(OLD FAVORITE) I have been using Maybelline Full N' Soft for years now. Every once in a while I will try a different type of mascara...but nothing compares. I could spend three times more on mascara, and I still see myself wishing I had purchased some Full N' Soft from the drugstore. What is it that makes this mascara so great? It doesn't clump and doesn't flake. Lashes stay so soft and light...it's like you're not wearing anything on them at all.

(NEW FAVORITE) Say bye-bye to dry and chapped lips this winter. Bliss Fabulips Foaming Lip Cleanser has instantly beautified my pout! The product goes on like a gel, and within seconds it starts to foam up. You leave the orange scented foam on for about 20-30 seconds and you actually feel it working. You then rinse it off and your lips feel good as new! It's my favorite new product. So much so that I have been using it twice a day. I can't get enough of it!

(OLD FAVORITE) Last year I discovered Organix Coconut Oil Weightless Hydrating Oil Mist while wandering the aisles at CVS and I have been using it on my dry locks ever since. Not only does it make them silky smooth...but the smell is delicious!

(NEW FAVORITE) I adore all in one makeup kits. Everything you need to achieve a great look in a neat little container...sign me up! This Smokin' Eyes kit from Benefit Cosmetics has everything a girl needs to pull together the perfect smokey eye. Eyeshadows, eyeliner, tweezers, shadow brushes, and eyebrow colored wax...it's PERFECTION in a kit! I have been using this little kit quite a lot...and I honestly don't know what I'd do without it...especially the brow wax.

What are your must have items for 2014???

Stay Warm In The Polar Vortex

I can't get over the weather lately! Last week when we had the snow storm the "real feel temperature" in NYC was negative 18. Now tomorrow they are saying it's going to be in the negative double digits yet again due to the polar vortex. I mean, I live in Brooklyn...not the arctic. But this frigid weather is not what I signed up for. I just do not do well with cold. EVER.

The one thing that sucks about living in NYC is that you have to walk everywhere...even in the freezing cold. How am I going to handle this? LAYERS LAYERS LAYERS. I have to admit, it's often difficult to look cute while you have a hundred layers on. I swear last week I looked like a crazy bag lady. Ugh!

Since then, I have been looking for great ways to stay warm while looking adorable. Here are some of my must haves...

Cable Knit Pompom Hat available at Joe Fresh- $10

Ribbed Over-The-Knee Socks available at Anthropologie- $36

Double-Cloth Tipped Coat available at J.Crew- $398

Corner Coffee Shop Cardigan available at ModCloth- $59.99

The North Face 'Snowtropolis' Boot available at Nordstrom- $219.95

How are you planning on staying warm???

Cover Story- Vogue January 2014

It's a new year, and I thought it would be fun to see how one of my favorite magazines is showcasing their first issue of 2014. Below you will find a number of the different magazine covers for Vogue's January issue. Which one is your favorite???

Mexico

United States

UK

Australia

China

Personally, I think Mexico and UK are the most striking covers. I don't know about you, but I am so thrilled that 2014 is here. I new year brings new fashion and trends! Can you believe in just over a month NYFW will be here?
