Governors Island Adventure

Considering the amount of time my husband and I have lived in NYC it's kind of crazy that we have never ventured out to Governors Island. Knowing that this weekend was the last to head out there for the season, we decided to hop on the ferry and go on a little adventure! The weather was so fantastic (actually a little hot for me...where's autumn hiding???) it was great to be out of the apartment and exploring something new together.

I really love this dress. It's insanely soft and light. Have you tried the Conscious Collection at H&M? What do you think of their items?

dress: H&M Conscious Collection/ fringe bag: H&M/ booties: Kensie/ bangles: vintage

Governors Island had beautiful parks and amazing sculptures everywhere. Here are some of my favorites...

And check out the views...

The homes that are there are also a sight to see.

While we were there most of the yellow houses were displaying artwork in them. Some really amazing pieces...and some really off the wall stuff. I wouldn't have it any other way.

Before we left we picked up an amazing ice cream sandwich from Melt Bakery. We opted for The Morticia which was crackly chocolate cookies + malted chocolate rum ice cream. Delicious!

I hope you all are having a great weekend. Get out there and enjoy it! And if you are in the NYC area, take the ferry to Governors Island tomorrow. It's definitely worth it!

Dress Like A Celebrity- Jessica Alba

I love this look for so many reasons. It includes three things I adore: the color pink, a simple sheath style, and Jessica Alba. I swear she always looks flawless and so put together. What she understands is the importance of simplicity. This Roland Mouret dress looks like it was made for her body. Perfection.

Not all of us can afford a designer frock, but I was able to put together a few similar and affordable alternatives for my readers.

Mini Cap Sleeve Sheath Dress available at The Limited- $98

Ivanka Trump Side Zip Crepe Sheath Dress available at Nordstrom- $138

Cue the Bijou Dress available at ModCloth- $79.99

Friday is here people! Now let's go out and live it up! I started my weekend a tad bit early by taking the day off. But, it wasn't all fun and games. I had a doctor's appointment this afternoon and the L train left me down BIG TIME. After waiting on a train sitting in the Bedford station they made us get off of it after 20 minutes as it was not going to run. So there I was scrambling to get on the bus to take the J to the 5...to the Upper East Side. UGH! If you live in my neighborhood you know how annoying it is when this happens.

Anyway...my weekend is here...and I'm going to enjoy it! Great autumn weather, hitting up an event at Space Ninety 8 tonight, and probably going to the Brooklyn Night Bazaar tomorrow night.

What are your weekend plans???

The Calm Before The Storm

dress: H&M/ fringe bag: H&M/ necklace: Urban Outfitters/ belt: Kohl's/

For all of you that are not currently in NYC, do not be fooled by all of the fashionistas in town for NYFW wearing their fall best. For an entire week now it has been super hot and humid. I threw on one of my lightest dresses today...because even with my new hairstyle I can't stop sweating! The good news is that there are some storms moving in and it should cool off tomorrow. Just in time as I have a rooftop BBQ to attend tomorrow! Yay!

The one thing everyone needs for fall is something with fringe on it! Fringe is so huge right now. I keep it simple by showing off my fringe on my handbag. But if you are a little more bold try the fringe trend on your boots, jackets, or dresses. No matter how you wear it you'll be looking good.

Can I just say that I'm seriously obsessed with my new flats. They make me feel like a ballerina...and I got them way on sale. The best part is, we walked a lot this morning and my feet didn't hurt one bit. No blisters at all. #winning

My husband insisted on taking my photo with this ad. He thought it was hilarious...and it is. I guess it is for some new cartoon on Adult Swim. Too funny.

What are you all up to this weekend? How are you beating the heat???

New York Fashion Week on the Horizon

New York Fashion Week is practically here! Even though tomorrow marks the official start, a number of shows, events, and parties have already started. There are so many things I'm looking forward to over the next week.

I also am really looking forward to meeting up with some of my favorite bloggers that will be in town. Can't wait! If you are going to be in NYC let me know. I won't be too available during the day as I'll be at work...but would love to meet up with people on the evenings and weekends.
